Chessington was approached by Betfair Bookmakers to supply training and horses for certain ex-footballers to race at Kempton for advertising prior to the start of the football season.
Betfair consider that the Premiership this year is a 5 Horse Race between Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool, so we had an ex player from each of these clubs to come to the yard for a mornings training to race at Kempton Park. The footballers were Kerry Dixon (Chelsea), Ray Parlour (Arsenal), Neil "Razor" Ruddock (Liverpool), David May (Man. United) and Steve Lomas (Man. City).
Alot of fun and laughter was had by all during the training and race...most of them had never sat on a horse before so it was a real challenge for them and us to get them prepared, however, they all did brilliantly and both the horses and riders seemed to enjoy the experience!
