The Horses at Chessington

All carefully picked for their kind nature.
 

There are over forty horses and ponies at Chessington Equestrian Centre; each carefully picked for their suitability to riding with the general public. However, we also have competition horses to suit more experienced riders who wish to take their riding that step further.

Luran

Born: 1988, 16.2hh Bay Gelding.

 

He has been with us for more than 10 years now, and is a superb member of the team.

Luran is very popular with both experienced and inexperienced clients, and he is one of the horses to participate in the training of Pentathletes. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ernie

Born: 2001, 15.3hh Grey Gelding

Ernie is our special "marmite" horse....you either love him or you dont!!!

"I love him" says Steve

(But Becky [a Sunday helper] says she loves him more!!)

 

 

 

 

Patchwork

Born: 2002, 16.1hh Piebald Gelding

 

Patch is everybody's favourite from young to old.... so much so, we are thinking of cloning him!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Buddy

Born: 1998, 14.1hh Black Gelding

 

Buddy is another of our Working Livery horses owned by Alice.  He is very popular and loved by the less novice children due to his forward going nature. Great in all school work and loves to jump.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Gemma

Born: 2001, 13.2hh Chestnut Mare

Straightforward all rounder, both in the school and out hacking.  An honest little pony where the more you put in, the more you will get out of her.

 

 

Henry

Born: 2002, 14hh Bay Gelding

 

Works well.........with a little persuasion! Honest and sturdy, and a clear favourite with Lara (Steve's daughter). Loves to go out hacking.

 

 

 

 

     

 

Rosie

Born: 1997, 12.3hh  Liver Chestnut Mare

 

Rosie is a favourite confidence giver for our younger riders.  Super pony for first time group riders.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Polo

Born: 1999, 12.1hh Grey Mare

 

At her best in private lessons, preparing riders for the transition into group lessons.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Millie

Born: 2001, 14.2hh  Skewbald Mare

 

Millie is one of our Working Livery horses owned by Holly.  She is great for the slightly more experienced rider.

Harvey

Born: 2003, 16.2hh Skewbald Gelding

 

Very popular all-rounder, Rebecca's (one of our weekend helpers) favourite in fact! Loves stretching his legs out hacking.  Works well in all aspects of the school from beginners to the more advanced.

Cha Cha

Born: 1998, 15hh Piebald Mare

 

Cha Cha is a lovely Working Livery mare owned by Ellie.  She is ideal for intermediate riders.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Walter

Born: 2003, 14.2hh Bay Gelding

 

Brilliant with beginners and first timers.  A good confidence giver who will give more when asked.
